FOLLOW PATHWAYS TO THE ACA

  As a trained accountant with a professional accountancy qualification, you may be eligible to become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and gain use of the ACA designation through the Pathways to Membership scheme.
  The ACA from ICAEW is regarded around the world as one of the leading chartered accountancy qualifi cations and is valued in practice, business and the public sector.

  Who can apply?
  To become and ICAEW Chartered Accountant through the Pathways to Membership you must live and work outside the UK. You also need to be a qualifi ed full member of ACCA,CIMA, CIPFA, MICPA, HKICPA*, AICPA or CPA Australia with at least fi ve years’ full membership and relevant postqualifi cation experience.
  Each application must be supported by a sponsor.
 
  Who can act as your sponsor?
  The Pathways to Membership programme requires each application to be supported by a sponsor. Your sponsor must fi t into one of the following categories:
 
  A.an ICAEW Chartered Accountant who has been an ICAEW Chartered Accountant for at least fi ve years and has worked with you for at least three of the last fi ve years and has detailed knowledge of your work by working closely with you during this time.
 
  B.a member of a body with which ICAEW has a current reciprocal membership agreement (CAI, CICA, HKICPA,ICAA, ICAS, ICAZ, NZICA or SAICA). This member must have been a member of that body for at least fi ve years (and be eligible for ICAEW membership under the relevant reciprocal membership agreement) and have worked with you for at least three of the last fi ve years and have detailed knowledge of your work by working closely with you during this time.
 
  C.where you work in an organisation that is an ICAEW authorised training employer (ATE), the qualifi ed person responsible for training (QPRT) or the person responsible for training (PRT) who is responsible for the offi ce where you work can serve as your sponsor. This sponsor does not need to know you or have known you directly but they must complete suffi cient due diligence to be assured that the information provided by you in the application and the answers to your Examination of Experience are accurate and a true representation of your work.
