　　A New Strategic Plan for CGA-Canada A Message from the Chair of the CGA-Canada Strategic Planning Committee April, 2010.

　　Any strategic plan worth its weight is not a static entity. Instead, it is a living, breathing document which is continuously evolving, as it charts the present course and anticipates the future.

　　At the beginning of 2009, the CGA-Canada Board appointed a Strategic Planning Committee to undertake the vital work of keeping the organization’s strategic direction clearly focused.

　　The committee began its work by doing a careful analysis of the existing strategic plan (January 2006) and determining if and how the environment has changed and in what way the strategic direction of the organization should evolve.

　　The next step was to undertake a thorough and rigorous environmental scan. We asked ourselves: what is the current state of our professional landscape? What has changed?

　　What underlying conditions have remained the same? Do we have new challenges? What opportunities lie ahead?

　　Throughout the spring, summer and fall of 2009 the Strategic Planning Committee continued to work with key CGA stakeholders bringing us to the key strategies you have before you.

　　This plan emerges from three major themes that form our philosophical foundation on which we continue to build all future activities:

　　To deliver high value to members

　　To be a leading player within our profession

　　To be a protector of the public interest

　　The CGA designation carries with it a high degree of responsibility to the general public and to society at large. CGAs and their national and provincial associations are strong advocates of ethical professional practices. This ethical philosophy will never be compromised and forms one of our strongest guiding principles.

　　As your Strategic Planning Committee, we are confident this has been a positive, productive and thorough process, which has captured our key challenges and opportunities and articulated the very essence of CGA-Canada’s vision and mission. As we contemplate our new strategic direction, we look forward to a challenging and exciting journey ahead and to continued success.
