　　Within the new governance structure of CGA-Canada, approved by membership in 2007, the Affiliation Council now holds responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the association. This is as it should be, because CGA-Canada, as a national organization, does not stand alone. We are part of a larger whole which includes the provincial and territorial CGA affiliates.
 

　　The 2009 CGA-Canada Strategic Planning Committee represented a broad crosssection of participants including our national board, our provincial/territorial CGA affiliate organizations and CGA-Canada. The committee benefitted from the wisdom and perspective of these participants and their extensive knowledge and experience within the CGA structure. We thank the committee for their participation and insight.

　　After a thorough and rigorous series of consultations the new plan emerged as you see it now. Those discussions included the Affiliation Council, the CGA-Canada Board, CGA-Canada’s staff executive group (Leadership Council), the National Education Committee (NEC) and the Chief Staff Officers group (CSOs). We are confident that through this comprehensive process we have captured a broad consensus on our challenges and our opportunities going forward.
 

　　CGA-Canada wishes to acknowledge the work of Bill Caulfield, CGA (Hon.) to the completion of our new strategic plan. Bill served as a member of our Strategic Planning Committee but sadly was unable to appreciate the final version, as he passed away on January 30, 2010.
