  Expenses
  CGA-Canada’s expenses from operations decreased slightly, by $34,000, over fiscal 2012. The Association’s expenses are tied to the six strategic goals in its strategic plan. The education program continues to be the Association’s largest expense; the national branding campaign was the second largest expenditure.
 
  Other expenditures linked to the Association’s strategic goals were:
 
  Unification of the accounting profession discussions and affiliate support
 
  Domestic and international representation. This included conferences and other events that CGA-Canada attended and/or sponsored
 
  Development of a variety of domestic and international research papers
 
  Grant to the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management to support accounting research
 
  National publicity campaigns for research reports
 
  Advocacy and submissions to the federal government on key areas of interest
 
  Activities to protect members’ rights as well as protecting the CGA trademark
 
  Corporate membership in the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), Fédération internationale des experts-comptables et commissaires aux comptes francophones (FIDEF) and other organizations
 
  Continuous improvements to the self-assessment tool for foreign-educated accountants funded by HRSDC
 
  Development of a variety of webcasts and online courses offered through PD Net
 
  Revisions to the Public Practice Manual, practice alerts and guidance bulletins
 
  Enhancements to CGA Magazine, which included a new website and digital version
