　　A CGA knows the value of having a professional designation, so where can CGAs turn to find designated Credit Professionals educated in the specific areas of credit and collections?

　　For more than 80 years, Canadian businesses have turned to the Credit Institute of Canada, (CIC). Created by a special Act of Parliament on June 11, 1928, the CIC is the only Canadian organization that grants official designations in the Canadian credit field. The Certified Credit Professional (CCP) is widely recognized as the symbol of excellence in credit management.

　　There are many CGAs across Canada who manage credit and collections and have staff with little or no formal training in these areas. The Credit Institute of Canada offers training to all levels of staff, from entry level to management.

　　A CCP designation complements a CGA professionally. CCPs are trained to maximize receivables and minimize risk, while contributing to the growth of the organization. Receivables are one of the largest assets of a company, an asset that can be transformed into an engine of growth and cash flow maximization by a trained credit professional.

　　CGAs thinking of branching out may wish to consider obtaining the CCP designation for themselves as well. Two avenues are open to CGAs:

　　1.Apply your CGA courses to gain exemptions for the core business courses required for the CCP designation. Valid for CGA course credits earned within the past 10 years.

　　2.Write the CCP Challenge Exam: a fast track route to obtain the CCP designation for senior managers with at least 10 years in management and 15 years in credit and/or collections.

　　CGAs receive a 10% discount on the Certified Credit Professional (CCP) Program.
