　　Guide to Practice Management for Small- and Medium-sized Practices (PM Guide)
 

　　The PM Guide seeks to improve the operational efficiency of SMPs and make them more responsive to the needs of their clients. To that end, the PM Guide provides guidance on how to better manage the practice and operate in a safe, profitable, and professional manner.
 

　　The PM Guide contains practice management principles and best practices on a comprehensive range of topics, including strategic planning, staff management, client relationship management, and succession planning. It features case studies to illustrate the concepts, and includes checklists and forms capable of being tailored to suit the needs of a particular practice or jurisdiction. In addition, the guide contains a list of further readings and modules that may be used for training and education.
 

　　CPA Australia developed the PM Guide with the financial support of CGA-Canada and Italy’s Consiglio Nazionale dei Dottori Commercialisti e degli Esperti Contabili. It was released in June 2010.
 

　　The PDF print version of this guide, and other IFAC SMP Committee products, can be downloaded free of charge from the Publications and Resources section of the IFAC website. The Microsoft Word version of the guide is also available to allow for translation and adaptation by institutes and small firms. Updates on initiatives of IFAC boards and committees, including information on recent developments related to the explanatory guides, is available on the IFAC site.
