英文:
The chart illustrates the percentage of citizens’ different travel modes in a certain city. Among all the five categories, private cars rank the first, responsible for as high as over 40%. Subways and buses take up the next two largest shares, accounting for 29.6% and 25.1% respectively. Taxies and bicycles, including the shared bicycles, make up 2.4% and 2.0%.
What accounts for the phenomenon? From my view, at least three factors contribute to the phenomenon. To begin with, the phenomenon is closely related to the fast development of national economy and personal wealth. A growing number of families have enough resources to purchase private cars. More importantly, the phenomenon has much to do with the turning of people’s attitude and outlook on Green Travel such as subways and buses. Finally, the phenomenon is enhanced and promoted by the government’s bettering policies as well as the more convenient channels in the public transportation.
With the development of society, this phenomenon is bound to continue for a couple of years in the future. As far as I am concerned, it’s a positive trend and should be encouraged since it is beneficial not merely to citizens but to the whole society.
